Access to OpenCity Italia’s services and personal area is through authentication with SPID, the public digital identity system, or CIE, the electronic identity card.

SPID and CIE allow administrations to abandon the various locally managed authentication systems, saving resources (in terms of work and cost required for issuing and maintaining credentials) and offering secure and fast access to online services, giving users a uniform service across the entire national territory. Users have the advantage of having a single set of credentials to access the various services that public administration makes available in Italy.

Aspetti normativi

The public digital identity system (SPID) was established starting from the Digital Administration Code (CAD) and its evolution is governed by the Three-Year Plan for IT in Public Administration. Public administrations are required to guarantee citizens access to their services through SPID.

Aspetti tecnologici

Access to services, the personal area, and a series of actions that require specific security levels (e.g., digital signature) are managed through SPID. OpenCity Italia manages the authority’s direct integration with SPID or the mode that involves passing through local “nodes” (typically regional).
