Starting in 2019, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers launched on an experimental basis and progressively made available to citizens the IO app. The app allows citizens to find the services of different authorities and then, depending on the case, perform some actions directly within the app (e.g., pay) or through the authority’s website.

OpenCity Italia has followed the project from the beginning and has developed its own service catalog and personal area to facilitate integration with IO.

Through various technical integration methods, with OpenCity Italia it is possible to publish the description of your services within the IO app and send messages that are notified to citizens not only via email, but also through the app’s notifications. Thanks to OpenCity Italia, messages are always linked to the services that the user intends to activate or has activated: it is possible to send deadline notifications, the progress status of the application, and messages signaling the release of the document (certification, permit, etc.) requested by the user.

With the progressive development of the IO project and the growing adoption of the app, citizens will have increasing opportunities to use local services not only through the authority’s website, but also through the Presidency of the Council of Ministers’ app.

Aspetti normativi

The IO app is the digital access point to public administration services provided for by the Digital Administration Code (CAD). By using OpenCity Italia, an authority not only digitizes its operations but also has the opportunity to comply with all regulatory obligations related to creating a digital access point to public administration services.

Aspetti tecnologici

OpenCity adopts the integration protocol provided by the IO project and has the ability to integrate directly or through so-called “local nodes”, meaning regional-level integration projects with the IO app. In this way, the authority can join the project in the most effective way possible, based on the technological choices and local context in which it operates. The integration methods aim to create an effective and multichannel user experience, leveraging the citizen personal area and the messaging system.
