One of OpenCity Italia’s core objectives is to create a digital environment that is easy to use for public officials and managers working from the office or from home: the OpenCity back office provides tools for management, archiving, interaction with citizens, and monitoring service performance.

In developing the OpenCity Italia platform, the same approach and the same attention to detail were followed in designing both the site areas dedicated to citizens and those used daily by public officials and managers.

All interfaces are based on Bootstrap and in particular on Bootstrap Italia, the kit created by the Department for Digitalization of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

The result is a website that is easy to navigate and use across all its areas: informational sections, personal area, service activation flows, and site management sections.

Aspetti normativi

The OpenCity Italia back office is designed starting from the simplification principles expressed by the Digital Administration Code (CAD) and defined through the design guidelines for public digital services. Furthermore, it is consistent with the remote working requirements expressed by the recent smart working policies within public administration.

Aspetti tecnologici

We believe that technology should be built on the basis of people’s needs and with constant attention to leveraging the advantages that digital tools offer, from time savings to the ease of monitoring and analyzing the status of applications.

The approach followed is to allow access and use of the system at any time of the day and with any device. The interfaces are designed in a responsive manner and are easy to use not only with a computer, but also with smartphones and tablets.

The current back-office section of OpenCity is the result of hundreds of interviews and usability tests with public officials and employees, and continues to improve thanks to the contributions and feedback provided by those who use the system every day.
